Privacy Policy

Things To Do Locally ("we", "us") runs a network of local event sites, including York Happening and Durham Happening. This policy explains what we collect for your Things To Do Locally account, which you use to sign in on any of our sites. Each site also has its own privacy policy covering its newsletter, analytics and mobile app.
Your account
One account works on every site in the network. When you create or use it we keep:
- Your email address and name
- A securely hashed password, if you set one
- If you sign in with Google or Facebook: your account identifier, name, email address and profile picture from that service
- Events you save and reminders you set
Signing in
You sign in at accounts.thingstodolocally.ca. When you then visit one of our sites, it receives a single-use code that tells it who you are, and it starts its own signed-in session. Signing out on any site signs you out of your account and of every site you signed in to with it.
Each record of a signed-in session stores the browser (user agent) and IP address it was started from, to help us keep accounts secure.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only to keep you signed in and to protect our forms from abuse (including a security check from Cloudflare Turnstile). Our sites' analytics do not use cookies.
How we use your information
- To sign you in and keep your account secure
- To send the emails you ask for: sign-in links, password resets and event reminders
- To show your saved events and reminders on our sites
We do not sell your information or share it with anyone for their marketing.
Service providers
We use providers for hosting, email delivery, security checks and, if you choose them, sign-in with Google or Facebook. They process information only to provide those services.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the information in your account. Deleting your account removes it, and your saved events and reminders, from every site in the network. Write to [email protected].
Age requirement
Our sites are for adults: you must be at least 19 years old to use them (see our Terms of Service). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 19. If you believe someone under 19 has given us their information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell account holders by email about significant changes.
